Joshua Gillespie—brotha asé—is a Minneapolis drummer, storyteller, teaching artist, and modern-day griot carrying Black memory, rhythm, spirituality, and healing from North Minneapolis into every gathering.
Joshua found his first drum at eight, studying under Brother Ghana Mbaye and learning that rhythm can carry memory, spirit, and people across generations.
North Minneapolis gave his rhythm roots, stories, and a community to serve.
