I did not arrive at this work alone.
The rhythms I play were carried by people before me. The stories I tell come from generations of memory and are inspired by the lives of those around me. The lessons I share were planted by teachers, elders, artists, family, and community members who gave me something worth carrying.
Now, part of my responsibility is to plant those same kinds of seeds for someone else.
Every time a young person places their hands on a drum for the first time, a community gathers around rhythm, a story preserves a memory, or artists come together to create something meaningful, the work continues.
